History
Bothwell Road Park is a large public park in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It was gifted to the community by Lord William Douglas-Hamilton, 12th Duke of Hamilton in 1894, on the occasion of the Jubilee of Queen Victoria. It is located between the Hamilton West and Whitehill areas, around 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Hamilton town centre. It used to be part of the Backmuir estate.

The Hamilton Cenotaph is located within the park, as well as a traditional bandstand, erected in 1912, which is a category C listed building.

More commonly known as Hamilton public park, Until recently the park included a small play pond and a sandpit, although, sadly, these were demolished by South Lanarkshire Council. Park of the park now also includes Holly Cross School and the Newberry Rooney Centre Day care center this means there is a diverse and alive community all around the park .
The National Cycle Route 74 passes the front of the park, following Bothwell Road.
Backmuir Wood is an ancient semi-natural woodland. The oaks within the woodland are thought to have been planted around 1700 by the Duchess of Hamilton. The wood is a mixture natural and plantation with species such as beech, birch, elm and oak.
